BODIES OF WATER
Bodies of Water brings together works produced during my master's degree in Painting, a period in which water emerged as the central axis of my artistic inquiry.
The paintings depict divers, suspended bodies, and women who float or appear to sink in slow suspension. Between labor and immersion, between the surface and submersion, water unfolds as both a physical and symbolic territory: a site where the female body is experienced through care, memory, vulnerability, and transformation.
Developed during a period of sustained engagement with feminist thought, these works reflect upon the invisibility of domestic labor, the transmission of knowledge among women, and the entanglements between body, care, and memory. They mark the beginning of a research trajectory that would later extend toward questions of water, territory, and environmental violence, concerns that have since become foundational to my artistic practice and continue to shape the research I pursue today.
